Abanindranath Tagore, Artist, Writer and Founder of Bengal School of Art

Abanindranath Tagore (7 August 1871 – 5 December 1951) was the principal artist and creator of 'Indian Society of Oriental Art' and the first major exponent of swadeshi values in Indian art, thereby founding the influential Bengal school of art, which led to the development of modern Indian painting. He was also a noted writer, particularly for children. Popularly known as 'Aban Thakur', his books Rajkahini, Budo Angla, Nalak, and Khirer Putul are landmarks in Bengali language children's literature

Nandalal Bose, Famous Indian painter of the Bengal school of art

Nandalal Bose (3 December 1882 – 16 April 1966) was an Indian painter of the Bengal school of art. A pupil of Abanindranath Tagore, Bose was known for his "Indian style" of painting. He became the principal of Kala Bhavan, Shanti Niketan in 1922. He was influenced by the Tagore family and the murals of Ajanta; his classic works include paintings of scenes from Indian mythologies, women, and village life.

This 1931 silent comedy movie has a hero Gobardhan (Das) visiting his parents-in-law in Calcutta (Kolkata). Making a 'No Nuisance' sign for an address, he gets lost trying to find his friend Amal's (Baurah) room. His subsequent adventures take him to famous locations including the Victoria Memorial and the Maidan. Gobardhan eventually reached his in-laws, feigns illness to prolong his stay, is beaten up when he tries to sneak into his wife's room and gets mistaken for a thief.
