International Athlete Paan Singh Tomar with his family before he turned Baagi (Dacoit)
Paan Singh Tomar (1932 - October 1, 1981) was an Indian athlete and a seven-time national steeplechase champion during the 1950s and 1960s. He represented India at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan. Tomar also served in the Indian Army, and it was in the army where his talent was first recognized. After premature retirement from the army he settled back in his native village. Later he gained notoriety as a Chambal Valley dacoit when he resorted to banditry after a land feud in his village.
He was killed on October 1st, 1981 in a police ambush. A biopic, Paan Singh Tomar, was released in 2012 to much critical acclaim.

The Maharaja Jam Sahib of Nawanagar Ranjitsinhji (Ranji) has five nephews who are cricketers, including of course, the famous K.S.Duleepsinhji. The youngest of these nephews is K.S.Indravajaysinhji. He is sixteen years old, and it gives every promise of developing into a great batsman.

The "Great" Gama (ca.1880 - May 22, 1963) also known as "Gama Pahelvan" and "Lion of the Punjab", born Ghulam Muhammad, in Amritsar, Punjab, British India, was a renowned wrestler, warrior and a practitioner of Pehlwani wrestling. He was awarded the Indian version of the World Heavyweight Championship on October 15, 1910. To this date he is the only wrestler in history who remained undefeated his whole life which was substantial, as his career had spanned more than 50 years. He has been billed as the greatest Pehlwani wrestler in history. After India's independence in 1947, Gama moved to Pakistan. Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of Nawaz Sharif is the grand-daughter of Gama.
