The vessel in which this cook is represented as stirring is called a Deckchee, made of copper, and carefully and frequently tinned. This is the usual form of cooking pot employed in India. The portable fire-place on which the Deckchee is placed is called an Angeetie. Many cooks are in their art very skilful, which is the more remarkable, as their caste precludes them from tasting the dishes they prepare.
Wages Rs 7 to Rs 12 per month.
