Boats across the Yamuna River near the Red Fort Walls - Delhi 1858

The Red Fort, built by Shahjahan, on the banks of the river Jumna, was an important site in the battle for Delhi during the Uprising of 1857. The Fort was a focal point for the insurgents as it was the Palace of the Mughal Emperor, the symbolic head of the Uprising. This photograph is of boats across the River Jumna near the Fort walls.
